About Journey
I think that describing my “a-ha” moment of sound would be a great way to begin. It was in the mid ‘90’s in Santa Rosa, Ca. There was a center in town that had a banner hung from the side saying “Breathe”. I remember that Karma Moffit, an amazing sound practitioner of all things Tibetan, came there to give 10-minute balancing sessions with his Tibetan bowls. I managed to get two sessions back to back. What a treat that was! I lay on a mat with bowls placed around me and blissed-out on the beautiful sounds. When I left, I felt so in balance and grounded and so filled with confidence ... not a natural state for me at that time.
My path as a Sound Healer/Ceremonialist and Initiator into the Divine Masculine/Feminine Mysteries, began in 2000 when I found a therapist who encouraged the use of my voice, through toning and sounding, as a means to clear and release the emotional blocks stored in my body. I began using my voice to help others by sounding into their bodies and by encouraging them to use their voices. I went on to attend a sound workshop in Santa Fe with Mitch Nur of Nine Ways and totally resonated with Tibetan bowls. It was also at that workshop where I first experienced gongs ... many many gongs ... and all manner of indigenous instruments. I didn’t learn to play the gongs then but I definitely got to feel their effects in my body! In the last few years, I’ve had great fun learning the nuances of playing gongs and how they affect people. It seems as though each time I play, I’m unlocking a new “story” from the gong that’s very particular to the group or individual I’m playing for. The gongs are like ancient beings, with such powerful voices! It often feels that it takes this concentrated vibration (often the deeper the better!) to get through the defended layers that have built up over time around our tender, divine cores. They can be played in ways that evoke such amazing, expansive responses from our beings, especially when the gongs emit the sounds and calls of dolphins and whales! i feel blessed that sound is my path. It has brought me great joy and increasingly good health. I love playing for individuals and for groups. My service, my heart-felt desire, is to introduce more and more people to the amazing, healing power of my instruments. To see people, who have been stressed and tired, transform by the end of a session into a relaxed, revitalized state is very, very rewarding! Just recently, a musician friend who had just experienced a "mini-" Gong Immersion, said I was a composer and that resonated deeply. I am an Organic Composer of Awakening Music ....... music that stimulates the awakening of the knowing of who we really are through the playing of specific sounds/ frequencies. That knowledge excites me and my hope is to pass on that excitement to you! Maybe I'll be playing for you ....... soon! |
